“Papegai” transforms a simple daily observation—the repeated visits of ring-necked parakeets outside my Paris window—into a poetic meditation on attention, time, and coexistence. Through still observation and tightly framed photographs, the work blurs the boundaries between urban and natural spaces, questioning who is observing whom as the birds gradually become both familiar and strangely unsettling. Expanded through archival, scientific, and contemporary imagery, the project becomes an open-ended investigation into perception, suggesting that what we watch may also, in some way, be watching us.
The series was created for the exhibition of Mennour Emergence 2026, a program of the Mennour Institute dedicated to supporting emerging artists at the beginning of their careers. Initiated by Jessy Mansuy and curated by Christian Alandete, the program supports artists throughout the exhibition process, from curatorial development and production to logistics and communication.
